My son’s school gives out what they call Student Handbook to each student in Grade School and High School every year. This handbook, aside from serving as a diary of activities of the students and as communication between the teachers and parents, also has pages with lots of information. There are pages called Food Trivia, The Internet, Ecology, Physical Fitness and more.
My most favorite page is Recycling. This shares information on which products are made of recycled materials, as well how one can help reduce waste by recycling. They got it from World Almanac for Kids 2002. Though most of us may have memorized this, let me just write some of it here.
- From recycled paper, we get newspaper, cereal boxes, wrapping paper, cardboard, containers and insulation.
- From recycled plastic, we get soda bottles, tables, benches, bicycle racks, cameras, backpacks, carpeting, shoes and clothes.
- From recycled steel, we get steel cans, cars, bicycles, nails and refrigerators.
- From recycled rubber, we get bulletin boards, floor tiles, playground equipment and speed bumps
