Flexible shoes are kinder to arthritic knees, but nothing beats going barefoot, according to a study from
Although Shakoor does not recommend thongs, which can lead to other foot problems and a higher risk of falls, she suggests people with arthritic knees stick with flat, flexible shoes. “When there is less surface to the shoe, the foot has better proprioceptive sense – knowing it knows when it touches the ground – compared to an insulated foot. This allows normal neuromuscular reflexes to come in to play and protect the rest of the leg from the impact of hitting the ground.”

The Impossible Quiz
Few weeks ago, while I was enjoying my time in Y!A, I came across one question that made me wonder, and google, what was it all about. They were talking about The Impossible Quiz. So armed with curiosity, I tried to find out what it was and guess what! I finally found a quiz that is really fun! How I wish quizzes were like this when I was still in school.
So go ahead and find out how far you can take it
Boo! Missed me?
Yesterday afternoon, my husband called and asked me about our computer. I told him everything the technician told me last Sunday. So last night, with a go signal from my partner, I asked my sister to come with me to the computer shop. We brought the CPU to have it fixed. On our way there, I was hoping (and praying) that the problem was just the power supply. I am saving the money for Jeff’s tonsillectomy some time in April, that’s why I don’t want to spend so much.
With a bit of luck (and answered prayer?), the technician finally and officially declared that the old power supply was acting up and needed to be replaced. So with a newly cleaned CPU + a brand new power supply that costs P1,250 + P300 labor charge, we went home happily ever after. Not bad for a three-year old unit, don’t you think?
After being resurrected, my PC died again the same day my cousin fixed it - Saturday. It only worked for around 4 or 5 hours then . . . . . flatline. My sister who was using it woke me up to tell me what just happened. She said the computer just stopped without any signs that say it is going to die. It just stopped breathing. My PC has been working for me for three years now (it’s birthday is on December) and I think it’s so exhausted. So I’m here at the internet cafe checking my emails and writing this post.
Meanwhile, Jeff and I went to see The Water Horse yesterday. The movie is fine; it was actually Jeff who suggested it. After watching, we went grocery shopping and since we were in the mall, I decided to ask around the computer shops there about my PC. The technicians said the problem is either the power supply or the motherboard. I also asked them to give me the estimate prices for both power supply & motherboard so I can have the cash ready when I get back. Replacement of power supply will cost me less than P2,000 ($50) while replacement of the motherboard is around P7,000 (almost $200); prices include the labor cost. See the difference? I just hope it’s only the power supply . . . . . ![]()
Some of you may already know this while some do not and others may have forgotten. Just a helpful reminder to all of us . . . . .

Here’s what to do: Take shelter in a car or building. Don’t use electrical equipment, including the telephone, and stay away from windows and metal, such as pipes and radiators. If you’re outside, never take shelter near or under a lone tree, and keep away from open ground and ridges. Shelter, instead, in a cave; in a wood, avoiding taller trees; in a hollow or dry ditch, or under a hedge, avoiding high points. Crouch down, keeping your feet together, or curl up into a ball. Discard metal items, such as golf clubs, spades and bicycles.

No need for CPR
Sudden death. That’s what happened to my computer. When I got back home after bringing my son to school yesterday morning, I turned the PC on like usual and found out that it was already dead. It just died and I don’t know why. Maybe it was already in a state of dying few days ago and I just didn’t notice. Anyway, my cousin fixed it this afternoon, thanks to him. So here I am rejoicing, singing and all. As of the moment, everything seems okay. But just to make sure, I made a back up of all my files before I went here. Better safe save than sorry, right?
Haaayyyy!!!!! I had a tiring day. Today is Saturday – laundry day. Now the soles of my feet are aching. I’m really tired . . . . . and sleepy. Gotta go, guys! I’m going grocery shopping tomorrow. Bye for now!
Another email scam?
Scammers do not get tired. Instead, they device more and more ways to get people into their traps. When I checked my emails this morning, I saw this one in my Spam folder. Despite all the campaigns and ads that inform the public of these and other kinds of scams, these crooks seem not afraid and still take the risks. Why? Because there are still people out there who get attracted and touch the baits. Here is the email sent to me:
At last, we’re done with all of Jeff’s projects. This morning, he submitted two more, in addition to the first five. Tonight, we finished the last one and he’s bringing it with him tomorrow to school. All I can say now is ‘Yeheeeyyy!!!!!’
