Contact Lens Safety
Recent research revealed 75 per cent of contact lens wearers across Asia do not follow proper lens care.

An alarming proportion of wearers do not practice simple contact lens care. “It takes less than a minute a day to rub and rinse yet many patients don’t think it is important,” said Dr. Chung Kah Meng, President of the Association of Malaysian Optometrists. Proper cleaning techniques lead to a dramatic reduction of microbes growing on the lenses, vastly lowering the risk of infection. Here are some key tips:
1. Rubbing and rinsing – Safety is enhanced significantly by rubbing and rinsing contact lenses both prior to and following storage.
2. No more than seven days – Lenses that have been stored for more than seven days, regardless of whether peroxide or multi-purpose solutions are used, should be re-disinfect before the next use.
3. No ‘top up’ – Do not add more solution to the solution already in the case.
4. Do not use tap water – Never use tap water to store, clean or rinse your contact lenses as water is a common source of potentially damaging microorganisms that can cause sight threatening infections.
5. The right kit – One of the highest risk occasions is going on vacation – an appropriate ‘travel kit’ should be carried and used.
6. Avoid exposure at pool – Another high risk occasion is exposing lenses to potential contamination from swimming pool or spa water – wear your goggles while swimming.
7. Not in the bathroom – Storing your contact lenses in the bathroom carries a high risk of airborne contamination.

I’m tagging ASCII (I know he’s deeply in love at the moment), Adelle, my husband and those in the blogroll who are interested. ![]()

Aaaahhhh . . . . . I had a very tiring day. It was very hot outside.
I went to the DSWD office today to ask for a social case study report. Then I proceeded to Quezon City Hall to get the certificate from the treasurer’s office. They are two of the requirements needed for the renewal of my son’s ID he uses at St. Luke’s. I’ll get the rest done next week.
I also went to Philhealth office in Quezon Avenue to pay the premium for the second quarter of 2008. Then went to the mall for a stroll . . . . . and window shopping!
That’s mission (partially) accomplished!
I don’t know much about the codes, the CSS and everything for I am still learning, but here’s something I can share with those who are non-geeks like me.
I recently upgraded my WP2.3.3 to WP2.5 using the WordPress Automatic Upgrade Plugin (WPAU). It’s easy.
What WPAU does?
1. Backs up the files and makes available a link to download it.
2. Backs up the database and makes available a link to download it.
3. Downloads the latest files from WordPress.org and unzips it.
4. Puts the site in maintenance mode.
5. De-activates all active plugins and remembers it.
6. Upgrades wordpress files.
7. Gives you a link that will open in a new window to upgrade installation.
8. Re-activates the plugins.
You too can do it by just following these simple steps:
1. Download the wordpress-automatic-upgrade.zip file to your local machine.
2. Unzip the file
3. Upload `wordpress-automatic-upgrade` folder to the `/wp-content/plugins/` directory
4. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
5. Go to Manage -> Automatic Upgrade and either click on the link provided to run or use the automated version link to let the plugin run in an automated way.
This plugin works with WordPress versions 1.5 and later. To know more about WPAU plugin, read the FAQ.

A little at a time
The Graphics Package I won last week is now ready. The header, the banner and the button are already with me since yesterday. The only thing I need to do is to put them all up. Yes, I finally figured out how to get my header up there, tested it but I can’t make it look good with the theme I am currently using. I know and I’m sure that there is a way, but for a non-geek like me, it will take a lot of nose bleeding-eyebrows burning-back and shoulder pain tolerating time before I do so. I’m going to try to experiment again to find out how I can give justice to Marie’s wonderful work. For now, let me keep you all excited!
Another thing I learned yesterday - that I can upgrade to WordPress2.5 using the WP automatic upgrade without a sweat. I downloaded the plugin, activated it, did as instructed and that’s it! Then just this afternoon, I added another page here. I’m talking about the ‘Archives’ page up there. See it? Then when I get tired seeing the blogroll in the sidebar, I’ll add the ‘Links’ page up there too.
That’s it for now - a little at a time.
It’s Sunday once again, people! And in case you haven’t noticed, each week, I post one funny photo or cartoon. I have so many of them, old and new alike, that I can post everyday. But, I’m scheduling our little humor treat once a week. Is that okay with you, guys? Now what do we call this particular posting day? Sunny Sunday? Sunday Smile? Or we can do it every Friday and call it Funny Friday? Or every Thursday so we’ll have Tickle Me Thursday? But I also have some photos here that will make you go ‘Aaaawwww’ because some are sweet, some are breathtaking views. So whatdyathink? When do we post these and what do we call the day? Come up with your bright ideas and help me out! Remember, not all of them are funny - some are inspiring and some are breathtaking views.
But for now, if you happen to see this man and his dog, will you help them cross the road?
Stagecoach Prayer
Here’s Our Daily Bread for today. It’s so beautiful. Enjoy reading.
Stagecoach Prayer
Whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. - John14:13
Five year-old Randy wanted a toy stagecoach for Christmas. While shopping with Mom, he found just the one he wanted. It was about 6” long and had cool wheels and dark brown plastic horses pulling it. “Mommy, I want this one. Pleeeeease!” he begged. As young children sometimes do, he threw a tantrum, insisting that he get that stagecoach for Christmas. Mom said, “We’ll see,” and took him home.
Randy was sure he’d get what he asked for. Christmas morning came, and he opened the package confidently. Sure enough, it was the stagecoach he had begged for. He was so pleased. But then his older brother said, “You really did a dumb thing to insist on getting that coach. Mom bought you a much bigger one, but when you begged for that little one, she exchanged it!” Suddenly, the small stagecoach didn’t seem so appealing.
Sometimes we’re like that with God. We pray about a specific need and tell Him how He ought to answer. We beg and plead – and God may even give us exactly what we ask for. But He may have had something better in mind.
Phillips Brooks once said, “Pray the largest prayers. You cannot think a prayer so large that God, in answering it, will not wish you had made it larger.” - Anne Cetas
Do not presume to know what’s best when you begin to pray;
But say to God, “Your will be done,” then trust His perfect way. – Sper
Large asking results in large receiving.

Here is the trophy!
Remember my post two months ago about Jeff and his team getting the third place in the basketball game in their school’s sportsfest? I don’t have the photo of the trophy then, only his medal for winning third place in the Chess Tournament, so I’m posting it now.

We only not have a photo, but the trophy itself is here. Their class adviser gave this to Jeff a week before the classes end. Jeff was the captain ball of the team.
I’ve been tagged!
I’ve seen so many blogs tagging each other and I don’t know how and if this really works. Anyway, I got tagged for the very first time and this came from Raquel (thanks!).
