What’s up with me

Posted by: abelle   in the life of an ordinary earthling

Hello there, people! In case anyone is wondering, this blog is still alive. It’s just that I chose to spend more time with my two boys. Dario just got back to work, while Jeff is back to school already.

Last week was a week of drama. It was the first week of classes for Jeff, while yesterday was Dario’s flight back to Riyadh. We were already chatting this morning before he reported to his office and this afternoon when he got back home.

We spent the last two weeks going out – shopping, ice skating, bowling, dining out – the three of us and some friends. Dario also bought me a Samsung LCD monitor for my computer. Now I can see the real colors of every photo I have on file, as well as the graphics of the sites I visit. Now, that’s one item crossed out of my ‘must have’ list for this year.

By March next year, Jeff will be graduating from grade school. My husband’s plan is to be here by March, instead of the usual last week of April, so he can attend the graduation ceremony. He said he doesn’t want to miss it. Aside from that, we also plan to move out – that is, if everything goes well financially.

Btw, I want to thank Audrey of Lagawan for holding another contest few weeks ago where I won this cute girlie cap.  That’s another great thing that happened in the past weeks.  Visit her blog and learn more about the different places here in the Philippines, as well as different airlines’ promos.

I’m sorry I’m still not in the mood to talk because I miss my husband so much already. Let me just share with you some new photos I have here.

2. LCD/flat screen PC monitor to replace the one I’m using which is having its near death experience (this was on last year’s list but I crossed it out because I can still manage to work with it, but it has to go this year because it’s not doing good things anymore to my eyes) (done on June06)

3. new camera/camcorder (my husband and I decided that we buy this next year, in time for Jeff’s graduation)

4. at least 2 new pairs of pants

5. new pair of shoes - the one I saw at Hush Puppies

6. new pairs of shorts

7. new shirts & blouses

bedroom sets

8. new bedsheets, pillow cases & blankets ( Ihave second thoughts on this because my husband and I plan to buy beds next year, one for us and one for Jeff.  I wonder what the latest bedroom sets designs are available now)

9. (to be continued)

Where am I?

Posted by: abelle   in the life of an ordinary earthling

We’re currently in Bataan right now.   We arrived here yesterday.  Bataan is a province in the northern part of the Philippines and is where my husband’s family is.  It has been raining yesterday due to the typhoon, but today’s weather is beautiful.  We just got back home from an unplanned swimming trip in a nearby resort.  Dario also tried gun shooting with his brothers-in-law.  I’ll be posting some photos soon.  Meanwhile, let me enjoy the vacation a bit more ;)

The Basketball Graduation

Posted by: abelle   in the life of an ordinary earthling

The basketball graduation was held this morning.  Like before, this final day was made fun for the whole family.  It was the first time for my husband to participate in the Daddys’ Freethrow Shooting Game, and second time for me in the Mommys’ division.  Both of us did not win any prizes, though.  But what really made our day was that Jeff got awarded for being the Most Improved Player for the 11-year olds’ class.  He got a trophy for it.  Take a look.

It was announced after each student from the 5-year olds to the teens received their certificates and profile card.  The profile card tells how well you did in the class.  Dario and I were both proud and all smiles when Jeff was called to receive his trophy.  The Most Improved Player award was based on the coach’s observation on each student in his class, which student improved the most on ballhandling skills, drills, etc.  And Jeff was it!  He got good grades in his profile card!

Congratulations, Jeff.  Papa and Mama are proud of you!

One day to go!!!!!

Instead of Monday, my husband is arriving tomorrow.  When he picked up his tickets and passport this morning, he was surprised to find out that his flight is scheduled tonight, not the expected tomorrow night that he filed.  So we immediately rearranged the plans and schedules that follow.

So, see you tomorrow morning, Pa!

. . . . . and my husband will be home!  ;)

Yes, Dario will be home soon!  That’s why I am seen less here these past few weeks because I am busy preparing some things and Jeff and I are really very excited!!!!! There are going to be lots of playing and other fun family activities to catch up.  And there will also be lots of lovemaking to do ;) . Hey! Don’t raise your eyebrows. We’ve been apart for 10 months. What’s a husband and his wife got to do? Look at each other?  Haha!

That’s it for now, people.  Got to go back to cleaning! I want everything to look refreshing when he arrives, and that includes me looking oh so beautiful ;)

Another thing.

For those earthlings who are currently looking for a web host, let me leave you a link to a site where you can find a list and reviews of the best web hosting services around where you can also check out the prices and the features each web host offers. Plus, find out more about SEO and your website design on their blog.  They have tips for every bloggers and website designers, especially for starters.  Also remember, ask your blogging friends first what host they use and how much they pay for the service before deciding.  In that case, you will be more likely to end up with the really reliable one.  Personally, it took me months before finally deciding to go for my web host.  I checked out lists of web host providers too to familiarize myself of the terms they use such as ‘uptime’, ‘domain name’ and ’bandwidth’ and the different hosting packages they offer.  Now, I am enjoying the excellent service and affordable rate they provide. In fact, I’ve been talking about them here.  That’s how satisfied I am of them.  No regrets!  Just ask me if you want to know ;)

That’s it for now, people!

Is it fun or difficult to be a mother? Actually, it is both fun and difficult to be one. And there would be times that you actually experience it being fun and difficult at the same time. Let me give you an example.

Most of you know that my husband works abroad. This means I also get to be a dad while mommy-ing around. Without the dad around, having a boy for a child is more challenging. You have to keep up with the things he is interested in like hobbies and sports. And I am not into sports.

fixing bakugan2

Just this morning after I finished the laundry, Jeff came to me and asked if I could fix his Bakugan toy. One of its wings just went off. It has very small spring and cylinder that keep it attached to the toy’s body. The toy is so small that you can actually close your palm with the toy in it. Anyway, men would usually arrive at the ‘scene’ with pliers and screw drivers, but not me.

fixing bakugan1

I came to the rescue armed with a pair of tweezers that I use to pluck my eyebrows and a pusher which I use to clean my nails. I used the tweezers as pliers, and the pusher as the screw driver and tada!  Job well done! This Bakugan is ready to brawl! ;)

fixing bakugan3

Fun and difficult?  Yes.  Difficult because after a tiring laundry session, I still have to be ready for whatever motherhood has to shove on my face.  Fun because what I get after fixing his broken heart and broken Bakugan, I got a big hug, a sweet kiss plus a ‘Thank you, Ma.  You’re the best!’ ;)

Plane Tickets and a Payday Loan

Posted by: abelle   in news from downtown

I was recently told by my husband that their office has processed his plane tickets already. I am expecting him to arrive in Manila on Apr27. He also told me that another agent is taking over his loan application and asked him to submit some papers needed for the processing. If things go on smoothly and his loan gets approved, that will be the best news ever this year. We have big plans and need that money to get things moving. And hopefully, if it does get approved, he still has time to do whatever has to be done before he leaves for vacation. For now, we’re crossing our fingers, as well as our eyes ;)

And speaking of loan, if you need quick cash without the hassle of a credit check, check out this site for payday loan.

Celebrate good times, come on!!!!!

passionate blogger award 2009 friendly blogger award

There are 2 reasons for me to celebrate today.  First is classes officially end today (fireworks!).  Second is the awards you see above - the Passionate Blogger Award from Carmel and the 2009 Friendly Blogger Award from Ruby.  Thank you, fellow earthlings.  And sorry, it took a while.  I was a busy bee this month.

This afternoon, Jeff and I went to the eye doctor to have his eyes checked.  Next week, we’ll come back to pick up the prescription glasses from her clinic.  Next week is also the start of his basketball class.  You see, mothers don’t rest.

That’s it for now, people! ;)
