Tuesday Toot#5 - 04.22.08

Posted by: abelle   in tuesday toot

Here’s my toot for the week.

Yesterday, Jeff and I went to the ENT doctor for his check up. Good news: he’s not undergoing tonsillectomy for there is a chance that Jeff outgrows his tonsils (they are quite large for his age).

Another thing is I’m done with my assignments – I had the aircon installed, finished cleaning the house and bought some more clothes for my husband. Dario’s flight to Manila is tomorrow and we’re picking him up from the airport on Thursday afternoon. Now, our room looks fresh when he arrives.

Happy tooting! ;)

6. vitamins

7. circuit breaker my husband asked me to buy

Bye for now, people! Talk to you again tomorrow.

Tuesday Toot#3 - 04.08.08

Posted by: abelle   in tuesday toot

Aaaahhhh . . . . . I had a very tiring day. It was very hot outside.

I went to the DSWD office today to ask for a social case study report. Then I proceeded to Quezon City Hall to get the certificate from the treasurer’s office. They are two of the requirements needed for the renewal of my son’s ID he uses at St. Luke’s. I’ll get the rest done next week.

I also went to Philhealth office in Quezon Avenue to pay the premium for the second quarter of 2008. Then went to the mall for a stroll . . . . . and window shopping!

That’s mission (partially) accomplished! ;)

A little at a time

Posted by: abelle   in the life of an ordinary earthling

The Graphics Package I won last week is now ready. The header, the banner and the button are already with me since yesterday. The only thing I need to do is to put them all up. Yes, I finally figured out how to get my header up there, tested it but I can’t make it look good with the theme I am currently using. I know and I’m sure that there is a way, but for a non-geek like me, it will take a lot of nose bleeding-eyebrows burning-back and shoulder pain tolerating time before I do so. I’m going to try to experiment again to find out how I can give justice to Marie’s wonderful work. For now, let me keep you all excited! ;)

Another thing I learned yesterday - that I can upgrade to WordPress2.5 using the WP automatic upgrade without a sweat. I downloaded the plugin, activated it, did as instructed and that’s it! Then just this afternoon, I added another page here. I’m talking about the ‘Archives’ page up there. See it? Then when I get tired seeing the blogroll in the sidebar, I’ll add the ‘Links’ page up there too.

That’s it for now - a little at a time.

Boo! Missed me?

Posted by: abelle   in the life of an ordinary earthling

Yesterday afternoon, my husband called and asked me about our computer. I told him everything the technician told me last Sunday. So last night, with a go signal from my partner, I asked my sister to come with me to the computer shop. We brought the CPU to have it fixed. On our way there, I was hoping (and praying) that the problem was just the power supply. I am saving the money for Jeff’s tonsillectomy some time in April, that’s why I don’t want to spend so much.

With a bit of luck (and answered prayer?), the technician finally and officially declared that the old power supply was acting up and needed to be replaced. So with a newly cleaned CPU + a brand new power supply that costs P1,250 + P300 labor charge, we went home happily ever after. Not bad for a three-year old unit, don’t you think?

No need for CPR

Posted by: abelle   in the life of an ordinary earthling

Sudden death. That’s what happened to my computer. When I got back home after bringing my son to school yesterday morning, I turned the PC on like usual and found out that it was already dead. It just died and I don’t know why. Maybe it was already in a state of dying few days ago and I just didn’t notice. Anyway, my cousin fixed it this afternoon, thanks to him. So here I am rejoicing, singing and all. As of the moment, everything seems okay. But just to make sure, I made a back up of all my files before I went here. Better safe save than sorry, right? :P

Haaayyyy!!!!! I had a tiring day. Today is Saturday – laundry day. Now the soles of my feet are aching. I’m really tired . . . . . and sleepy. Gotta go, guys! I’m going grocery shopping tomorrow. Bye for now! ;)

Finished, Done and Through

Posted by: abelle   in the life of an ordinary earthling

At last, we’re done with all of Jeff’s projects. This morning, he submitted two more, in addition to the first five. Tonight, we finished the last one and he’s bringing it with him tomorrow to school. All I can say now is ‘Yeheeeyyy!!!!!’

joy

I spent the last two days exploring things for this website. I finally made the File Editor and the Theme Editor writable (whew!). I also added some little things to my sidebar. And do you see the icon beside my address on the address bar? I did the logo myself (good job, Abelle! - pats herself on the back) and was able to put it up there! (brilliant! 8) ) Thanks to FavIcon from Pics, now my website is world class ;) .

FavIcon is short for ‘favorite icon‘. You may use or upload your photo or a logo, it’s up to you. If you want to have one for your site too, click here and follow the step by step instruction (just like I did :D ).

Now back to the Senate . . . . .

My Introductory Speech

Posted by: abelle   in the life of an ordinary earthling

At last! I have my own website already. I am very excited about this, yet nervous at the same time. Why nervous? Because I haven’t worked on a ‘control panel’ before. I remember, whenever I go to any forums about web designing or uploading a template and things like that, I can’t understand the words the people there are saying. I always asked myself, ‘What control panel? What php? What /blahblah/blahblah?’ I always felt like my ears and nose are bleeding because of the words I never heard before and don’t understand. But now, I’m starting to learn. Huh! I am trying my very best to make my patience stretch a bit more, because in the long run, I am the one who should help myself first. But there are a few people that I like to thank. Please allow me . . . . .

My husband
papa Papa, thank you for always supporting me with the things I like to do. You are the one who told me about blogs. With it, I made use of my time here at home and this is very special to me. Then you also told me about the opportunity I can have with my blogs, which at the moment are reaping its fruits. You are always the encouraging one, full of optimistic views, always ready to listen to my stories and always ready to share the happiness and the sorrow I feel. I love you so much, Pa.

Our son
jeff Our ten-year old Jeff is the one who always bring adventure to my life. This 4th grader has been the topic of most of my posts in my other blog, taking the highlight off me.

The Administrator
I don’t know what his or her name is, but he calls himself The Administrator. With no single clue how a website runs, I found myself always struggling (and out of patience) on how to make my ‘This site is under construction’ website into this humble but a product of my heart blog website. After my click this and click that tries, somehow I managed to make it from my control panel to the Wordpress themed blog. But of course, it wasn’t easy for me and who says I got it all right. After making my first post, I clicked ‘View site’ and tada!- ‘This site is under construction’. So while I imagined myself wearing a hard hat and holding a shovel, I opened a support ticket, told my heartbreaking story, and in a few minutes, The Administrator solved my problem! He said ‘You forgot to delete the default index.html (Under Construction) file from the public_html folder. I went ahead and deleted it for you.’ Awwww. Isn’t that sweet? They are just being true to their slogan: Your satisfaction is our #1 priority. Thank you, Administrator, for your patience. I am very satisfied with your prompt service and polite reply. Oh by the way, I did not forget to delete it; I just didn’t know that those things exist.

Mabuhay Hosting Philippines
